It was fantabulous and a hit! It was great, awesome, terrific, cool and name all the adjectives that you could describe the NDP. Well, you will sure agree with me if you have watched either at Marina Bay or the live telecast on TV or Internet. Although the parade is shorter than last year, it was different and it was unique as there was a part where all Simgaporeans were needed to say the pledge at 8.22p.m. All Singaporeans were encouraged to say the pledge regardless of where they are or what they are doing. In my opinion, I think this is the right thing to do so as to respect the country. I realised that many Singaporeans are really patriotic. Lots of people were seen wearing red and white clothes. That's good and I am not against it.
This year's theme was Come Together, Reaching Out Reaching Up. Most of the performances this year involves the four major races in Singapore which are Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. Some parts of the performances are funny but some were serious. Nevertheless, it was entertaining and hilarious. It would be a memorable event for me. I will never ever forget all the NDPs that I have watched and experienced. They are just so like 'wow'.
The fireworks were the star attraction. Everyone will always love the spectacular fireworks. They were so beautiful and lovely to look at. I took some pictures and will post some later.
After that, it was the pledge moment. And it goes like this: We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people. Regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality. So as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation. Wippee! Yeah! We have finally come to the end of the celebration. So sad sia... Time passes so fast!
I watched Singapore Idol soon after the celebration. Some of the contestants were really talented but some of them sang like 'kiam chye' or shit. Overall, it was funny. Love the judges. Hope there will be a talented singer that could represent this year's 3rd season of Singapore Idol! Good luck!
